Anime on Free File Hosts
This method of downloading anime is more of a sub-method of direct downloading, rather than a method of its own. This is because the only difference between the two is that in this method, anime episodes and movies are hosted on free file hosts, such as Megaupload and FileFront, rather than hosted on the DDL site's own media servers.
So, it shouldn't be surprising that the advantages of downloading anime from free file hosts are similar to that of direct downloading, i.e. no port-blocking worries, no modems locking-up, and support for download accelerators (though most free file hosts have disabled resume support on their free service).
There are, however, drawbacks particular only to free file hosts. Firstly, you'll usually have to fight for limited bandwidth with a large number of downloaders. Secondly, there's that timed delay placed on your downloads, e.g. 30 seconds before your downloads will begin on Megaupload.
But for quite a large group of people, downloading from free file hosts is still better than downloading through Bittorrent or IRC - especially if they own Premium passes for the respective free file hosts (which provide your better speeds, resume support, and multiple connections). So, learning how to use free file hosts is an important step in getting fast anime downloads.
Normally, what is involved is a click into a link provided on sites or forums to access the episode's download page. Then, all you need is to left click the Download link, or right click and select Save As.
